Final Images

Below are my final 3 images inspired by August Sanders hand studies...

I have chosen these three images due to its only emphasis on the hands that feature in these photographs, the hands are made powerful by the lighting from the window nearby which illuminates the hand. In each image the hand is fully focused and therefore quite detailed. I have used the activity of cooking to show different actions of hands during this activity, it makes the viewer view the idea of cooking in a different way, still but still evoking a working process. The colour in each image is also very strong. The images respond to Sanders work because his small collection of hand studies evoke a way of life for the person the hands belong to, by either showing positions of hands that evoke their feelings at that time, or the persons occupation, something that is very important in Sanders approach. The way he photographs peoples occupations tells us that at the time his photographs were taken peoples personalities were sometimes overlooked by their professionalism/ jobs. I have used colour in my images instead of his approach of black and white because I wanted the images to evoke life, and it also brings his approach to a modern way of documentation.
